From My Inbox: Your Stories Matter

I don't typically share these types of e-mails, but I think it's important for you to know how important your stories are for newly pregnant young women. And while my mission for Early Mama was never to actively stop abortions (that's between you and your partner), I've received plenty of emails from young women who had abortions or went through with adoptions because of fear-based misconceptions. They didn't have any positive examples to look toward, and it heavily influenced their decisions. While I'd never make a blanket statement like, "young motherhood is right for everyone" or "it worked for me so it can work for you", our stories are powerful. So please keep sharing them. ***

Subject: Wow, thank you.

Message Body: Hi there,

I just wanted to say THANK YOU, so very much, for running Early Mama.  I've known for sure that I'm pregnant for about 50 hours now, and I've probably spent about 15 of those poring over this site. I'm a 24-year-old full-time student in my last year of undergrad, and I was (am...?) scared to death, but I want you to know that all of this encouragement and these stories may have meant the difference between motherhood and an abortion for me. I had nearly been convinced that I couldn't make it work, or that having this child would be selfish, or that my Promising Future would be precluded.  You've given a microphone to that tiny voice that knows everything will be just fine.  I'm so glad you're here, and I'm so glad I changed my mind.  Please keep it up.
