Liann gives some last-minute baby name advice to a couple who can't decide on a name for their overdue baby —
My name is Miranda; I am 26 years old, and soon we will be first time parents! It has been quite the bumpy ride for us so far, and alas we are still undecided on a name for our little man. My due date was yesterday, Sept. 21, but it seems he may be waiting for us to agree on this last detail before arriving.
We decided that his middle name will be after Brett's father, William, who just passed in January. I like the first name Ezekiel, because it's biblical and rare. I also like the idea of being able to call him Zeke or Ezee for short. I also like Isaac and Zachary, but Brett thinks they sound way too religious. (I'm a practicing Catholic, he is not.)
Brett likes Mason, Braxton, or Grant — and I just don't. We both want a unique, strong name that won't be misspelled or mispronounced too often. Could you help us with some first name suggestions? I am Italian, Brett is Irish; the middle name will definitely be William and last name McGinley. Please help ASAP. Thank you.
Seeing as you're already past your due date, I'm going to get right to the suggestions. I'm aiming for a middle ground between your classic, biblical taste, and Brett's more modern, trendy taste. So here you go:
I know these are all over the map, but what have you got to lose? You and Brett seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, so I threw in a bit of everything — biblical, occupational, Celtic, and Italian. I think they all sound nice with William McGinley on the end.
My personal favorites are Micah, Jasper, Griffin, Dante, Harris, and Miles.
Good luck with the impending arrival of your son! (That is if he's not already here.) And be sure to let us know your final decision!
