Continuing with our “Why I Love Being a Young Mom” series, here’s another reason to be grateful for your early mama lives:

When you’re pregnant with your first baby, one of the last things on your mind is your unborn baby’s unborn babies. Yet the fact remains: Being a younger mom means you have a better shot at knowing and loving your grandchildren. This is decades in the future, of course, so it might not be quite enough motivation for the daily ins and outs of early motherhood, but it’s something you’ll one day appreciate.

Because more grandchildren = more love. And to top it off, you’ll still be energetic enough to enjoy them.

Beyond the fact that loving your grandchildren will be a perk in and off itself, it’s also an invaluable gift to give to your children. Whether your children fall on the earlier or later end of the parenting spectrum, they’re going to need support, help, encouragement. They’re going to need their mother to step in when the baby won’t stop crying. They’re going to secretly want someone to spoil their children in only the way a grandmother can. They’re going to want their mother around for as long as possible — to vent, to cry, to finally express their appreciation.

And that’s something to look forward to.

I love this reason! I see how our parents love our girls so much. Not more than us but in a different dynamic. They have this “careless” love. Love without consequence. Yes, we can go run in the rain with our clothes on! Or yes, you can have one more cookie! All things that of course wont hurt them, but make their bonds so much tighter. I want that some day!

This rings entirely true to me. It is even more motivation in another way too. The ability to have YOUR own parents help, and allowing your children to enjoy them! This is also an even bigger factor when considering a family background of Alzheimer’s.
