(Noah and I dancing at a wedding!)
Continuing with our new “Why I Love Being an Early Mama” series, here’s another reason: more energy. This one might be up for debate (I know a few 40-somethings with more energy than I have!), but I received so many emails and comments about this, I figured it’s quite a perk to most of us. I know it’s something I’m grateful for, considering I can still be the silly mom galloping around the house and dancing like a fool.
One of our readers, Kristen, said: “My parents were a little older and, to be honest, not much fun when it came to play time. I can build forts and run in the park with my kids and they love it.”
Of course it’s not only the young moms who have a youthful exuberance, but there’s certainly a better chance when you’re younger. And maybe it’s because I went straight from college to pregnancy, but I’m still able to function on shockingly little sleep. (Which is a plus when it comes to parenting!)

I didn’t have my kids until I was 38 and 41. There are a lot of great things about waiting, too, depending on who you are, but energy is not one of them! Every other day I say, “I am waaaaay too old to have a 3 year old”

I couldn’t agree more! I thought reason #1 was the absolute best. Love your blog, I’m a young momma too (20).

I have to argue this one.
As a first time mama at 30 years old (not by choice, but by God’s plan for us), I have so much energy to spend on my little girl! I LOVE doing things with her, playing with her and spending time with her.
She brings me more energy just by being around. I LOVE dancing around with her, taking her outside, rolling around on the floor with her – there is nothing better!

I would neeeeever even think to assume a 30-year-old first-time mom is an “old mom.” But I know a 40-year-old first-time mom who could probably run circles around me!

Thank you, girl! It’s nice to know I’m not thought of as an “old mom” at 30. I don’t FEEL it, but since I had such a different picture in my head of when I would become a mama.
